The team will create a database of vaccine laws, which will facilitate analysis of the relationship between variations in state laws and differences in vaccine coverage and communicable diseases.

The State Vaccine Exemption Law Database will contain documented and characterized search results that will be reviewed, coded, and entered into a user-friendly database of all relevant vaccination requirements and exemption laws for all 50 states. The final product will include the research protocol, codebook and dataset and can be used to investigate a number of questions of immediate policy relevance including the relationship between the types and specific characteristics of medical and non-medical vaccine exemption laws and vaccine uptake rates and outbreaks of communicable diseease.
